Alpine Archive

Since 2003

My Alpine Archive does not evolve systematically or with any claim to completeness. It is a personal archive, the documents result from my storytelling and from the search for suitable places to stage such narratives.
I counteract the romantic construct of the wild Alps and heroic mountain scenes by showing the fragility of the landscape and my own familiar, tender relationship to the mountains, which developed from very early in my life. I have never been interested in conquering but in assimilating. Spending a long time there, and a direct study of nature are the preconditions to this.
Longer periods spent in the mountains are very intense. And because I am generally out and about at unusual times of the
year and the day, I experience the mountains as a lonely place. Often, only animals visit me – and are probably astonished by my activities.
