There is a fine line between documentary travel reports and fiction, as you have had an idea already when  you select a particular place. But the original themes can be widened or changed. That is why, when I am out and about, I make precise documenting a priority. Going on foot plays a key role here, as it sharpens the perception.

Since June 2015 I have also been reporting directly on my travels on my blog page novelle-montage.com - about a garden in Gotha or from Berlin - and in December 2015 I blogged as the accompaniment to an exhibition project for the first time, in the role of my alter ego Séerafia/Replacement 12 (see project Fabulwinter - Fimbulvetr).

My travel destinations have changed over the years. For my early travel stories I visited only alpine regions - it was about loneliness, exposure, and also a physical challenge.
My journey through Germany in summer 2008 led to a widening of my interests – distance, colours and above all the swing from nature to culture and back developed into my key focus. In the following years I travelled into the Arctic Ocean to Greenland, worked in museums, hiked in the Engadin, travelled to Northern Cyprus in the Mediterranean, or climbed to the inside of the Mother of God in Le Puy, France...

I have developed travel stories from some of my trips further.
Permanently on view: The Blue Silvretta - commissioned expedition for the Museum Alpinarium in Galtür, Tyrol, 2013. Go to project
Another example of a bigger cycle is: In Search of Atlantis - Journey to the East Coast of Greenland, 2010. Go to project
There are several stories and many works from Nepal and Tibet. An extract: Himalayas - 2001 to 2009. Go to project
On my innumerable alpine tours, I gathered a large collection over the years. I showed the works in exhibitions, mainly in the form of developed narratives about individual regions or trips. With time, this led to an alpine archive of still largely untouched mountain landscapes - constantly threatened by the wish for development and the need for ease and safety in the mountains on the part of those seeking recreation.
Alpine archive - since 2003. Go to project

Some Travel Studies and Images

Lost to regain - The hike
Art hike through East of Germany June/July 2016

The approximately 600 kilometer long route led from Jena via Leipzig to Berlin and over Waren to Rostock. On the way I collected pictures and stories. Starting from the things happend, from found subjects and collected motivs of the hike I work out now the main line of telling of the cycle "Lost to regain".
Blog reports of the hike here (in German)
